CBS will bring back another veteran drama for the 2019-20 TV season. The network announced this afternoon that "NCIS" has been officially renewed for its seventeenth season, following star and executive producer Mark Harmon signing a new deal to reprise his role.

Its viewers are the most loyal in television, passionate about the characters, plotlines, and storytelling. In its current run, "NCIS" averages 12.2 million live same-day viewers, making it TV’s second-most-watched scripted series (trailing only "The Big Bang Theory"). It has consistently performed strongly for CBS in ratings and viewership, solidifying its renewal as a top contender.
With this renewal, "NCIS" joins "Young Sheldon," "Mom," "Criminal Minds," "God Friended Me," "Magnum P.I.," "FBI," and "The Neighborhood" as confirmed returning scripted shows for CBS’ 2019-20 season.
